As the calendar flips to December we shift our thoughts from turkey, stuffing and gravy to festive lights, tinsel, and ornaments. The Holiday season is one of the busiest times of year. With all of that strain on your schedule, any seasonal shortcuts can make a big difference.
The key to a beautiful tree is having the right ornaments to bring it to life. If you want to add some simple and creative decorations to your home just follow these easy steps!
Snowflake Clothespin Ornament:
This easy to make ornament utilizes everyday household items and transforms them into the centerpiece of your holiday decor. All you will need to complete this unique design is (8) wooden clothespins, glue (preferably a glue gun), white paint, glitter and string. Follow these easy steps to create beautiful ornaments that will last for years.
- Remove the metal spring connecting the clothespin by sliding one side outward
- Apply glue to what used to be the outside of one of the clothespins
- Adhere the outside of one half of the clothespin to the other
- Complete this step of (8) clothespins
- Coat the wide end of (4) clothespins with glue
- Join the wide ends with glue on them at the tips to create a plus sign
- Allow this to dry for a few minutes so the clothespins do not separate from one another
- Coat the wide end of the (4) remaining clothespins with glue
- Insert the (4) remaining clothespins into the gaps between the clothespins that have already been attached
- Allow this to dry for a few minutes so the clothespins do not separate from one another
- Decorate to your liking. For ours, we used basic white craft paint, glitter and glitter glue.
- Feed the string though one of the holes in the clothes pins and tie it in a loop to hang (you can also drill a hole through the tops of the clothes pins if you prefer)
These ornaments are easy to make and are durable enough to last for years. Also, and most importantly, they are completely customizable so that you and your family can add your own personal touches. Whether you are an Average Joe or a regular Martha Stewart, these DIY ornaments are sure to bring some sparkle to your Holiday!
